About the role

The Sr. HR Generalist ensures all Cannapiece initiatives, programs and practices are aligned to the needs of the business and successfully implemented. Provide HR generalist and administrative support to identified client groups in various areas including: employee relations, compensation, recruitment, health and safety, onboarding and performance management.

Location: on-site in Pickering, ON facility

Shift time: Monday – Friday, 9AM-5PM


  • Understand, interpret and ensure compliance with all relevant employment legislative requirements including Human Rights Act, Employment Equity Act, Employment Standards Act, Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc. as they apply to the regions covered.
  • Provide support and guidance to management on all employee relations inquiries, including policies, coaching best practices, risk management, corrective action, and any other HR related topic from a generalist perceptive.
  • Provide day to day HR guidance to line management and production operators via onsite meetings and through other means.
  • Prepare internal HR related documents including employment, promotion and transfer letters, termination forms and progressive discipline letters.
  • Track and administer referral bonus program and assist in the composition and distribution of reward statements.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee and labour relations issues. Conducts effective, objective and comprehensive investigations.
  • Partner with company objectives in providing leaders with skills, methodologies and overall coaching to expertly manage employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of multiple client group operations and its strategic role within the organization.
  • Act as a partner by providing solutions to complicated matter while maintaining relationships with management.
  • Participate in ongoing HR initiatives and projects to enhance HR services to the business, including workforce planning and retention strategies.
  • Provide new employees with a comprehensive onboarding program to enable a smooth transition.
  • Support the coordination of local training opportunities as they relate to the client group.
  • Support health and safety programs to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Conduct and track exit interviews, identifying turnover trends and making recommendations.


  • ¬†Minimum of 5 years experience as an HR Generalist, specifically, in the manufacturing industry.
  • University or College degree/diploma in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • Seasoned practitioner who is able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to identify needs in development and working closely with the business to propose appropriate solutions and creative interventions.
  • Act a team player, change agent, project manager and you are able to manage several demanding clients simultaneously.
  • Posses a high level of customer orientation; strong oral and written communication skills and are autonomous and dynamic in nature.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications and HRIS systems.
