Fundamentals of Hydrocarbon Seminar
Learn why hydrocarbon extraction is one of the most versatile extraction methods.
The two-day in-person hands-on seminar covers the hydrocarbon extraction process, including its flow, major components, basic and advanced systems, and fundamental objectives. The principles of thermodynamics affecting pressure, condensation, and evaporation, as well as the principles of organic chemistry, will be discussed. The safety of operators in hazardous areas and concentrate end product types are also presented. The seminar includes hands-on operations, industry standards, and emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of the hydrocarbon extraction process.
This in-person course involves an in-class and a hands-on portion in our Health Canada-approved C1D1 booth.
We will be extracting real cannabis biomass and reviewing the various end-products best suited for this extraction method.
What will the seminar cover?
– Hydrocarbon extraction process, components, and systems.
– Objectives: prevent lipid/wax dissolution, preserve mono-terpenes, ensure safety
– End product variants: cured/fresh-frozen
– Thermodynamics: pressure, condensation, evaporation, heat transfer
– Organic chemistry: solubility, polarity, decarboxylation, extraction methods
– Operator safety: explosive vapors, pressure safety, safe environment
– Concentrate end products: shatter, caviar, vape cartridges, THCa, diamonds, sauce
– Hands-on operations: heating/cooling, solvent transfer, clogs, molecular sieve, color remediation
– Industry standards: quality systems, sanitary standards, pressure codes, fire/building codes
